The goal of HOAMS is to provide the ability for Homeowners Associations to cheaply and effectively manage their community and to build a stronger, safer, more active community by improving the communications within it.

The concept for HOAMS unfolded when my wife was elected as treasurer of my neighborhood's HOA. As she transitioned into the position, we both became aware of the effort required of one of these 'volunteer' positions. It was difficult to keep track of who lived where, who was moving in, who was moving out, and who had paid their dues for the year. When questions came up, it was hard to find the correct answer because every member of the board had their own spreadsheet that conflicted with the others.
Additionally, my neighborhood had a website. They understood how this communication medium could benefit the neighborhood. Unfortunately, there were few that knew how to update the website and, as a result, the website got out of date and was no longer useful. It became just another expense for the neighborhood.

I realized there must be a better way. I used my experience as an internet applications developer to build HOAMS to be a secure, user-friendly, functional application that fulfills the communication and management needs of Homeowners Associations.
